Trust for Public Land - in partnership with the Larchmont Elementary student community, Tacoma Public Schools and Parks Tacoma -invites the public to celebrate the opening of the Larchmont Community Schoolyard!

This newly redesigned space is the fifth completed community schoolyard in Tacoma, expanding access to outdoor spaces for learning, play and community connection. Designed in partnership with students, staff and neighbors, the schoolyard features new play equipment and greenery and will serve as a community gathering space outside of school hours.

At the event, project partners, school representatives, and students will make brief remarks and will cut a ribbon to signify the opening of the space. 

“It’s been a truly collaborative process, and we are grateful to the students and community members who helped design these spaces, meeting the needs of the community," said Tacoma Public Schools Superintendent Josh Garcia. "We know how important it is for youth and their families to have safe places to play and be active.”
